I'll huff, and I'll puff...

Friday we did The Three Little Pigs. You can see here the materials used to present the story. The kids got way into this... controlling the wooden "pigs," helping to name the characters, yelling, "Not by the hair on my chinny chin chin!" and experimenting with building their own "houses" after we finished the story. They loved the part where we all "huffed" and "puffed."

Ian is continuing to play out the story on his own at every opportunity. You can see that the collection of materials is simple and easy to come by... the wooden peg people are available via etsy.com or here and are very inexpensive!

Farmer's Market Field Trip

I know most of you couldn't make the Farmer's Market field trip today, and the weather didn't really cooperate, but I thought I'd summarize anyway.  Ian and I had a BLAST.  He was a little confused at first and thought we were going to the farm, and kept asking to see the lambs and chickens again.  I explained that this is where they sell the food they grow on the farm and that seemed to clear it up for him.

We smelled everything, tasted a few free samples, and discussed the fact that some of the plants are what will grow from our garden.

We concluded our lesson with a Whoopie Pie.  I have a feeling I know which part of the lesson will stick, and it's not the difference between an onion and a turnip.

Root Farm Progress

There was a bit of a setback when the wind blew the Root Farm over, but by and large it seems to be doing well...
