Building Museum Field Trip

Thanks Megan B. for organizing this field trip to the Building Museum!

The kids clearly enjoyed the Building Zone, the place is gorgeous, and as far as they're concerned, a trip on the Metro is an end in and of itself!

Turns out, the museum also has "activity packs" that can be borrowed for $5 each and enjoyed in the enormous, open, indoor space on the main level.  Can't beat that!  We look forward to trying that next time!

Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles!

Thanks Susan for providing the photos from this lesson.  The kids all had a chance to explore fluid dynamics in the back yard and then enjoyed some active circle time activities focused on rhythm and rhyme.

We had a couple visiting mamas who were scoping out ideas for other co-ops- I hope they had as much fun as we did!

Little Shoes

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

These guys loved their "baked porridge" lunch, the "deep dark cave," putting on the hats to play Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Baby Bear, and they thought experimenting with clothespins was "just right!"

We have decided to retire the root farm for the time being, but it's looking pretty pathetic so I'll spare you the sad sight of it.  Apparently the water is no longer getting all the way up the root farm- possibly because the plants are just too big for it now.

Red Fish, Blue Fish

These guys played a matching/memory game with Miss Danette, matched colors with a bean bag toss, ran under the parachute, saw a cicada skin, colored their own cars on the "Potty Train," bounced on the trampoline and explored fluid dynamics in a couple buckets of rainwater. Quite a day!

The Three Chefs at Work

These guys are busy making their own whole wheat pizzas for lunch. They wore as much as they ate!  This was a big "dough rollin'" day, since the kids also did some very creative things with play dough, and scrubbed the tables themselves between the play dough and the lunch dough.
